2018 CCS CityMark Awards
2018 CCS CityMark Awards
7 June 2018
The City of London Corporation 30th Annual Gold Considerate Contractors Scheme Awards took place in May, in which three City Mark awards are now included for the constructions sites and teams that are working hard to make the streets safer for us all.
CityMark has continued to develop as part of the Considerate Contractors Scheme, to drive improvements in the way that construction sites in the City of London manage their road safety inside and outside their sites.
CityMark reviews all the construction sites compliance against two national standards - Construction and Logistics for Community Safety and Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme. These standards require all sites and their managers to ensure that all the companies they hire, and their driver and the vehicles etc. meet certain safety and environmental standards.
This year three awards were presented for best Client/Principal Contractor, Construction Logistics Planning, and Traffic Marshal Team of the year.
The Client/Principal Contractor Award
Was awarded to Mace for their great work at 4 Cannon Street.
The Construction Logistics Planning Award
Was awarded to the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade Project on behalf of Dragados and London Underground. The main contractor has been delivering a tremendous amount of work, largely un-seen, with nearly 300 vehicles per week visiting the site. The Logistics Plan has systems in place to manage these movements with little impact on the public and general traffic movements.
Traffic Marshal Team of the Year Award
Was awarded to the Mace at 70 St Marty Axe.
This award recognises the valuable and often essential work undertaken by traffic marshals. Their team known as the "Face of Mace" stood out because the site is sandwiched between two major routes through the City, close to other busy sites making managing of vehicles very difficult. The team were able to not only safely control vehicle moments directly from the highway but they also found time to assist with a pollution assessment. Local businesses have commented on their professionalism, which included giving assistance to an ill passer-by.
Congratulations to all of these sites and teams!
