Considerate Cycling - Campaign Launch

We celebrate 200 Years of the Bicycle in a part of the City where bicycle traffic has overtaken the car as the most popular vehicle in the Square Mile, now accounting for 26% of vehicles. As a zero polluting, space and energy efficient form of transportation, this is something to be celebrated.
The City Road Danger Reduction team work hard with developers and constructors such as British Land and Sir Robert McAlpine to protect cyclists; we work in partnership to promote HGV road safety, highlighting the dangers of hotspots to drivers and cyclists alike, we have a training programme for drivers and banksmen and, Sir Robert McAlpine is committed to both CLOCS and FORS.
The City, Sir Robert McAlpine, British Land and their supply chain support Considerate Cycling, where cyclists not only look out for their own safety, but also the safety and comfort of pedestrians. The City of London’s vision for the future of cycling in the Square Mile is that people will enjoy a relaxed cycling experience. The City has established the Active City Network as a platform to work in collaboration with developers and employers to make cycling an enjoyable way to travel in the Square Mile.
The artistic impression of Pegasus which is featured on hoardings at the 135 Bishopsgate project for 3 weeks, as well as on sub-contractor Cantillon’s vehicles, illustrates the feeling of freedom the bicycle offers.
