Bring your bike on board!
Bring your bike on board!
1 November 2020
Will you be cycling more around London? Well...have you thought of commuting or exploring London by River?
Take to the Thames and discover a new way to move through the capital with the Thames Clippers. The high-speed River Bus service started on 24 May 1999 and is still going today.
Their vessel passenger capacity has been reduced to accommodate social distancing and enable them to carry more bikes (between 15-20 subject to vessel type). This is double the capacity in some cases and you can bring your bike on board at no extra cost.
The river bus stops at 23 piers along the Thames from Woolwich Pier to Putney Pier.
Services normally run from early in the morning until late at night, 7 days a week but they are operating a bespoke timetable, so always check thamesclippers.com/servicechanges before travelling.
Their boats and piers are wheelchair, mobility scooter and pram accessible, with the exceptions of Cadogan, London Bridge City and Wandsworth Riverside Quarter piers. The larger boats have space for four wheelchairs and most have accessible toilets and baby changing tables.
You can plan your journey, find out more about time tables, special tickets and accessibility on their website.
So enjoy the fresh air, beautiful views and contactless journeys, oh and double the capacity for bikes!
A partnership with Uber
In August 2020, Thames Clipper entered into a new partnership with Uber providing Londoners and visitors with even more options to commute, explore and enjoy London by river. Tickets are now available through the Uber app, in addition to existing payment methods.
