The City Riders Forum
The City Riders Forum
24 January 2019
The City of London Corporation hosted the first City Riders Forum on the 22nd of January. Representatives from key cycling and motorcycling groups, industry influencers, local residents and businesses came together to discuss the approach to rider safety across the Square Mile and how the Corporation can better engage with riders.
Presentations were made on the City of London Road Danger Reduction and Active Travel Plan, The Purpose, Approach and Role of The Riders Forum, and Rider Trends and Statistics in The City. Discussions were also held around the themes of rider behavior, training and its effectiveness, and the importance and scope of insurance, policy and security.
It was clear from this first meeting that there are a lot of issues and concerns that need to be addressed, however the consensus of those that attended was very positive about the role that the Forum could play in influencing and supporting rider safety and policy across The City.
The Corporation would also like to hear your views, we're hoping to set up a Riders Workshop/event, a place for you to express your views and concerns about riding in the Square Mile, and where you think that small interventions could be useful in making their journeys easier and/or safer?
